Muharraq .. The Sea Rose

Muharraq: The Sea Rose is a visually rich book that captures the essence of Muharraq, Bahrain’s historic island. Authored by Abdullah Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Khan and published by the Bahrain House of Photography, the book presents over 300 photographs documenting Muharraq’s landscapes, architecture, people, and significant events spanning 50 years.

It is considered a historical reference documenting the landmarks of the city of Muharraq, which was the capital of Bahrain from 1810 until 1923. The book illustrates the history of the city, including its houses, markets, mosques, and traditional crafts such as shipbuilding and Bahraini sweets.

The book also features rare archival photographs, some taken by the author's father, in addition to historical documents and letters of appreciation from prominent figures, such as a letter of thanks from the late Emir of Bahrain, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

The book is multilingual, available in Arabic, English, and French, and serves as a historical and cultural reference for Muharraq’s transformation over time.
